Our Products

At Royal Plants & Nurseries (RPN) we raise plants through micro propagation (Tissue Culture) and conventional propagation. Our plant products are highly acclaimed nationally and internationally owing to quality.

Currently, we offer two tissue culture products, Banana and Robusta Coffee. For the plants raised in nurseries, we offer two main categories of clean planting seedlings;

Conventionally propagated seedlings

    • Macadamia
    • Hass Avocado
    • Coffee
    • Eucalyptus
    • Oranges
    • Cashew Nuts
    • Mangoes

Micro-propagated seedlings (Tissue Culture)

    • Banana
    • Coffee
    • Cassava
    • Potatoes

Conventionally Propagated

At RPN we have vast experience in plant propagation through “Raising from seeds”. Some seeds do not germinate easily for a number of reasons such as dormancy, rest period and presence of a hard seed coat. Some of the services we offer during plant propagation through raising-from-seeds include:

  • Raising slow-growing species from our nurseries and transplanting them only when the seedlings are not liable to be damaged by weeds.
  • Offering artificial preparation for some species of plants that are not usually successful when raised directly from sowing or transplanting their seeds.
  • For seeds that require external treatment to germinate, i.e. seeds with hard coats like macadamia, we utilise methods such as cracking of the coats by mechanical means, abrasion, soaking in water or acid, and stratification.
  • Before sowing on a large-scale, we test the viability of the seeds e.g., in acid lime, mandarin orange, durian, litchi, passion fruit, carambola, loquat, etc.

Currently at RPN we have experience in propagating Macadamia, Hass Avocado, Coffee, Cashew nuts, Oranges, Mangoes and Eucalyptus, using the “raising from seeds” method.

Micro-propagated (Tissue Culture)

At Royal Plants & Nurseries (RPN) we carry out Plant tissue culture. Also called micro propagation, plant tissue culture is a practice used to propagate plants under sterile conditions, often to produce clones of a plant. Different techniques in plant tissue culture may offer certain advantages over traditional methods of propagation, including;

  • The propagation of exact copies of plants that produce particularly good fruits, flowers, or have other desirable traits.
  • To quickly produce mature plants.
  • The production of multiples of plants in the absence of seeds or necessary pollinators to produce seeds
  • To maintain pathogen-free plants away from pests and diseases.
  • To produce disease-free plants in large quantities.

Currently, at RPN we have experience in propagating Banana and Coffee through plant tissue culture.
